Richfield, Utah – Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Carla Jean Jacobsen Avery, passed away on her 71st birthday, November 13, 2021 in Richfield. She was born November 13, 1950 in Salina, a daughter of Elmer Ray and Vera Maurine Curtis Jacobsen. She grew up in Salina and graduated from North Sevier High School, Class of 1969. Carla married Richard Sudweeks in May of 1969 in Salina. To this union were born four children: Jason, Brooke, Angela and Lynn. Carla and Richard were later divorced. She married Allen William Avery March 6, 1998 in Richfield. He died November 29, 2003. Carla lived in Salt Lake City from the early 1970’s to the late 1980’s. She then moved to Manti and then to Richfield in the mid 1990’s, where she has since resided. Carla is an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as ward organist and pianist. She loved church and going to the Temple. She enjoyed baking and made the best cinnamon rolls. She also enjoyed crocheting and doing family history. Carla loved her family and loved to be home. She is survived by her children: Jason Sudweeks, Brooke and Ryan Winget, all of Richfield; Angela Thomas of Farmington; 7 grandchildren; siblings: Janice of Las Vegas, Nevada; Jolene and Joseph Peterson of Richfield; Rex and Debbie Jacobsen of Salina; Brett Jacobsen and Mike Jacobsen. She is preceded in death by her parents; a son, Lynn Sudweeks; a brother, Sheldon Jacobsen and her husband, Allen Avery. Graveside services will be held Thursday, November 18, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. in the Salina Pioneer Cemetery. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. Burial will be in the Salina Pioneer Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
