Koosharem, Utah - Carrol Naylor Sorenson, 84, of Koosharem, Utah died November 27, 2018, at her home in Koosharem, of pancreatic cancer. She was born November 27, 1934 in Salt Lake City, Utah to John Revell and Rosella Wright Naylor. Carrol grew up in Salt Lake City, Provo, and Orem and is the oldest of three brothers and three sisters. She graduated from Orem High School in 1952. On July 21, 1953 Carrol married Burnell DeLoyd Sorenson in the Manti Utah Temple. They are the parents of Sheila (Kenneth) Coleman, Shaun (the late Colleen) Sorenson, Shelly (the late John) Richart, Shane (Jill) Sorenson, and Sharice (Siaosi) Taufatofua. Carrol’s posterity includes 19 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild on the way. Carrol taught English and Business classes for several years in California , and kindergarten in Koosharem, Utah. Carol and her husband Burnell founded Koos Kamp Camp (a summer camp for teenagers). This camp later became Sorenson’s Ranch School (a year long residential treatment center for teenagers). She visited over 50 countries and enjoyed hobbies such as genealogy, scouting, and was an avid reader. Carrol served in various positions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Some of these positions included young womens president, music organist, and temple ordinance worker. She also served in many scouting positions and was given the Silver Beaver Award for her years of excellent service in scouting. Her genealogy accomplishments including co-authoring three 600 page books entitled Keep the Love, a history of her parents; Grass Valley History, a history of Koosharem; and Burnell and Carol Sorenson. Carrol will be missed by family and friends. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 3, 2018 at 12 Noon in the Koosharem LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Sunday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or at the ward chapel in Koosharem Monday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Koosharem Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
