"Gone Fishing" Redmond, Utah - Loving husband, Dad, Grandpa “Pops”, and Grandpa Great, passed away peacefully at home on June 21, 2019, in the loving arms of his sweetheart of 55 years from complications of ALS. He was born January 22, 1947 in Salt Lake City the first of five born to Raymond P. & Dorothy Christensen Ecker. He married the love of his life Laurel Lee Corwell, and together they had 3 wonderful children Kathy (Rick) Mickelsen, Karen (Mark) Shields, Joe (Crystal) Ecker. Dave worked at Kennecott, and owned Ecker Excavating until 1988. He then moved to Redmond, UT where he retired as the town manager. Dave coached little league baseball, and Jr. Jazz for many years. He also served as the Vice President of the Fish lake Cabin Association. Dave had a lifetime love for Fish Lake, he spent most of his life there, fishing, hunting, and tending to his cabin. He leaves behind a legacy of love for Fish Lake that spans over 6 generations. Dave also loved to Golf with his family and friends. He had a love for animals of all kinds and had quite of few interesting pets in his life. One of his greatest joy’s in life and what he was most proud of was his family. He often talked about how proud he was to be apart of such a wonderful family. His love was unconditional. He never missed a moment to tell any of us how much he loved us and always had a hug and a kiss waiting for us. Dave is survived by his wife, children, 8 grandchildren Ryan (Deri), Sara (Will), Matt (Angel), Taylor, Kailey (Ryan), Alex, Tyson, and Jake. 5 Step grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and siblings Sue (Russ) North, Kris (Paul) Argyle, Scott Ecker, and Bob Ecker. Preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. His smile, love and kindness will be missed by all that knew him. Our fishing guide has gone home to fish the beautiful waters of heaven with his family and friends that he missed dearly. We hope you catch some big ones for us. Funeral Services will be Saturday, June 29, 2019 at 12 Noon in the Riverton 6th LDS Ward Chapel, 12345 South 2700 West in Riverton. Friends may call for viewing at the Redmond LDS Ward Chapel Friday evening from 6-8 PM , or at the Riverton 6th LDS Ward Chapel Saturday morning from 10:30 -11:30 prior to services. Burial in the American Fork cemetery is under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina.
