Elaine Julander Solomon

Elsinore, Utah - Our beloved wife, mother, daughter, grandmother and sister, Elaine Mae Julander Solomon, age 61, passed away August 12, 2009 at her home in Elsinore, surrounded by her family, following a valiant fight against cancer. She was born May 28, 1948 in Gallup, New Mexico. She was raised in Elsinore, Utah, by her parents, Duane Busk and Betty Minty Barney Julander. She graduated from South Sevier High School. Elaine married Ronald Nordgren, October 7, 1965 in the Manti LDS Temple. They were later divorced. She married James Solomon October 4, 1982 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Elaine was a hard worker her entire life. She had a great passion for working with the youth. She spent many years working at the Richfield Dormitory. Most recently, she was employed at Sorenson’s Ranch in Koosharem. Elaine was an avid Bingo player. She loved crocheting, sewing and cake decorating. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren. Easter was her favorite holiday. She always wanted to make it fun for the grandkids with an Easter Egg hunt, Easter Baskets and especially the kite flying contest. The kids and grandkids always looked forward to going to Grandma’s on Easter. Elaine was a good mom and grandma and always put her family first. There wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for her family and friends. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by her mother, Betty Julander Nelson of Elsinore; a brother, Carl and Jeannene Julander of Richfield; her husband, James Solomon of Elsinore; her children: Shane Nordgren of Phoenix, Arizona; Wayne and Tammy Nordgren, Richard and Shauna Nordgren, Chad and Jennie Nordgren, Duane Solomon, all of Richfield; Stacy and Matt Gale of Parowan; step-daughter: Melissa Kae Solomon of San Diego, California; 24 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law: DeVon Koyle of Orem. She was preceded in death by her father, Duane Busk Julander; her sister, Ethel Koyle; grandparents: Moroni and Emma Barney, Carl and Violet Julander. The family would like to express a special thanks to Vickie Gurney and At Home Hospice for their love and tender care of our Mom. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 15, 2009 at 12 Noon in the Elsinore LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Friday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or at the ward chapel in Elsinore Saturday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Elsinore Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
