Axtell, Utah - Kenneth Ellsworth Buckland, age 67, of Axtell, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away November 30, 2008 in Provo, Utah. He was born July 21, 1941 in San Jose, California, a son of Kenneth Durery and Helen Willson Buckland. He married Judy Bruno, June 24, 1964. Their marriage was solemnized in the Oakland LDS Temple in 1971. Kenneth served his country in the US Marine Corp Reserves. He worked for SUFCO Mine for 26 years, where he earned the nickname “One More Job”. He farmed and raised livestock for most of his life. He had a strong love for life and family. He served numerous callings in the LDS Church, including his last callings involving working with the Boy Scouts and Family History. He was an avid Temple attendee. Ken had a quiet strength and humility admired by many. He was very generous with his time, to help out a friend or loved one. He enjoyed working with his hands as was evident by the time he spent working on bows and handmade knives. Ken is survived by his wife, Judy of Axtell; his two sons: Nathan and Connie Buckland of Axtell; Gene and Michelle Buckland of Boise, Idaho; his two daughters: Stacy and Tom Stafford of Gunnison; Amy and Eric Drueding of Sandy; 14 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; brother and sister: David and Judy Buckland of Half Moon Bay, CA; Midge Buckland of Fallon, NV. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 5, 2008 at 11:00 A.M in the Axtell LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call for viewing Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Centerfield American Legion Post #105 will be in the Axtell Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the American Lung Association in the name of Kenneth Buckland.
