Loa, Utah - Lorrie George Batty, age 71, of Loa, passed away July 18, 2017 in Provo, Utah, surrounded by his family, after a long battle with lung disease. He was born August 3, 1945 in Caliente, Nevada, a son of Joseph and Delsa Cluff Batty. He graduated from Wayne High School, Class of 1963. He then attended a Diesel Mechanic School, where he learned automobile and diesel mechanics. He married Barbara Lynette Edwards August 14, 1964 in Provo, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple June 8, 1983. He worked for Geneva Steele in Heavy Duty Mechanics, when Geneva shut down he went into business for Himself owning B and B Auto in Orem and then Moved to Loa in 1985 where he took over "Joe's Garage" which was owned by his dad. George was a member of the LDS Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, 4 wheeler riding, loving on his grandkids, playing games, especially card games that he could cheat at. He will be greatly missed. George is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, of Loa; children: Lorrie and Steve Paulson of Kearns; Lynette and Harvey Cook of Nephi; Bobbi Jo and Lee Cartmell of Waynesboro, Georgia; Bryan and Jennifer Batty of Fremont; Melvin and Merintha Batty of Loa; 24 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brother: Joe and Linda Batty of Orem. He is preceded in death by his father, Joe Batty; his mother, Delsa Cluff Davis; brother, Claude Batty and sister, Clairene Hutchinson; grandson, Doren Lee "Lil D" Cartmell III; mother-in-law: Lois Levin and her husband, Dick Levin; and his father-in-law: Melvin Edwards. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. in the Loa LDS Stake Center, where friends may call for viewing Monday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or Tuesday morning from 11:00 to 12:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Loa Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
