Gunnison, Utah - Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, Larry Mitchell Andreasen, age 76, returned home on December 16, 2016, peacefully with Mom and Mitch at his side. Dad was born June 27, 1940, to Mecheal Pete and Ivy Sophia Anderson Andreasen in Gunnison Utah the youngest of 8 children. He learned the love of work and family at a young age becoming his dads eyes. He married the love of his life RoLayne Peterson in the Manti LDS Temple September 21,1974. They recently celebrated their 42nd anniversary. Dad was full of stories, jokes, and a contagious laugh that would fill the entire room. He loved the outdoors, cutting wood, four wheeling, frisbee, and sitting in the yard waving to every passing car. He spent 19 years farming for Harry Kimura and 24 years at Gunnison Valley High School as a custodian. He took pride in his work and always gave his best work especially when it came to the gym floors or practical jokes. His life was not without challenges. Later in his life he had to say goodbye to a part of him that would change his life forever. He went with the flow of his challenges and just kept trying. He let the rough times refine him. In his later years he became an avid reader, especially western novels. Dads greatest joy was his family. He loved spending time with everyone. It wouldn't matter the age, he would visit, and communicate like he was your peer and best friend. The party or get-together really and truly began after Dad’s arrival. He wouldn’t have to do anything special, just show up, bat his baby blues, give his signature smile and laugh. He is survived by his loving wife RoLayne Peterson Andreasen, his 3 children Marcy (Orrin) Rice of Cape Girardeau, MO, Mitchell Andreasen of Gunnison, and Monica (Devon) Nygren of Farmington, NM; Grandchildren: Cameron, Brayden, Dylan and Jaxon Rice, Sydney, Asher and Easton Nygren; Sister: Tressie (Morris) Lund; In-laws: Joy Andreasen, Tom Bird, Ravoe (Richard) Lee, Kent (Betty) Peterson Verden (Mary) Peterson, and many nieces/nephews, extended family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson: Christian Rice (infant), Sisters: Karren (Lester) Anderson, Ramona Young, Beth Gates, Brothers: Kent Andreasen, Jack (Madge) Andreasen, and Bennett Andreasen. In-law Barta Bird. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, December 22, 2016, 11:00 am in the Gunnison LDS Stake Center, 80 West Center, where friends may call for viewing Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. or Thursday morning from 9:30 to10:30 prior to the services.
