Mayfield, Utah - Wanda May Peterson, our wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, passed away on February 21, 2010 in Centerfield, Utah, at the age of 98 years old. She was the light in the lives of her family, an example of four generations following her. Her strength and strong will, carried her through her lifetime. She was born April 14, 1911 in Gunnison, Utah, a daughter of James Arthur and Katie Christina Hendricksen Bjerregaard. She graduated from Gunnison High School, Class of 1930. She married Edgar Peterson, February 12, 1931 in Richfield, Utah. They had four children. Edgar died August 20, 1976. Foremost in her life was her family. Her love and concern for her children was visible during her life and is reflected now throughout her family. Her mind was always sharp. Her handiwork was her trademark, a joy to behold. Her quilting, crocheting and sewing are part of family memories and tangible love for her family. She was an excellent cook and will be remembered always for her apple pie and sugar cookies. She will be missed and loved always. Mom is survived by her children: DeVon and Zara Peterson of Delta; Stanford and Jean Peterson of Mayfield; and Wanda Marie Hatton of Mayfield. She has a legacy of 16 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; a son, Charles Lynn Peterson; a great-grandson, Andrew Peterson; sister and brothers, Linda Bjerregaard, Aden Bjerregaard and Sheldon Bjerregaard. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 26, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. in the Mayfield LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call for viewing Thursday evening from 6 to 7:30 P.M. or Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Mayfield Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
