Salina, Utah - Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, Wilma May Collins Barney, age 85, died Saturday, September 10, 2011 at her home in Salina, after a short battle with cancer, surrounded by her family. She was born May 25, 1926 in Salem Springs, Missouri, a daughter of William Perry and Lucy Elizabeth Stubbs Collins. She married Denzel Floyd Barney, October 17, 1944 in Elsinore, Utah. He died October 2, 1962. She was a member of the LDS Church. Wilma enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved to go fishing, camping and enjoyed gardening. She is survived by her daughter, Teresa and Les Slaughter of Sandy Ranch, Utah; grandchildren: Jennifer and Dusty Robertson of West Jordan; Heather and Chad Fern of Santaquin; Brandon Slaughter of Salina; great-grandchildren: Shelby Robertson, Colby Robertson, Stephanie Fern and Gavin Fern; a sister, Thelma Flanigan of Prescott, Arizona; nieces and nephews: Donald and Dolly Turner of Milford; Alice Rehak of Mountain Home, Idaho; Jewell and Glenn Zerkle, Eddie Flanigan, all of Prescott, Arizona; Kenneth Turner of Grand Junction, Colorado and Mary Thomas of Tucson, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lucy and William Collins; a brother, Paul Collins; four sisters: Jean Poulson, Lillian Frost, Fern Turner and Vivian Collins; her husband, Denzel Barney and a granddaughter, Stephanie McKellar. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Gunnison Valley Hospice for their care and concerns in taking care of our dear Mom. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at 3:00 P.M. in the Salina 2nd LDS Ward Chapel, 85 South 100 East in Salina. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home, 150 East Main Street in Salina, Monday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or Tuesday afternoon from 1:30 to 2:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Salina Eastside Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
