Loa, Utah - Our dear father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather and brother, Afton Taylor, age 100, passed away March 3, 2011 in Provo, Utah, surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 13, 1911 in Loa, Utah, a son of Allen and Lula May Jameson Taylor. He married Elva Peterson in the Manti LDS Temple, June 18, 1930. She died February 21, 2001. Dad was an active member of the LDS Church, and served in many positions. Dad and Mom served as Ordinance Workers in the Manti Temple. He loved music and was the drummer for the Peterson Orchestra for many, many years. As a carpenter, Dad built many homes throughout Wayne County and remodeled many others for friends and family. His greatest love and enjoyment was time spent with his family. Afton is survived by his children: LaDell and Lois Taylor of West Valley; Fayona and Vard Forsyth of Taylorsville; and Randy Taylor of Murray; eight grandchildren and their spouses; 26 great-grandchildren and their spouses; 15 great-great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Mildred Beardall of Orem; Richard and Ellen Taylor of Cedar Fort; Stanley and Charlotte Taylor of Orem; Lowell Taylor of Henderson, Nevada and Winona Peterson of Bountiful ; brother in-law Bliss Brinkerhoff of Bicknell and sister in-law LaRue Peterson of Loa. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years; his parents; five brothers and three sisters: Lawrence Taylor; Wendell Taylor; Laura Malmstom; Arvel J. Taylor; Cassel Taylor; Myrle Taylor, Lyman Taylor and Elva Taylor. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Connie, Terri, Raylynne, and their staff for the love, concern, and care, shown to our Dad. Also a special thanks to Pace and Susan Ellett for all their acts of love and kindness shown to our precious Dad. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 10, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. in the Loa Stake Center. Friends may call for viewing from 11:00 to 12:30 prior to services. Burial will be in the Loa cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
