Allen W. Avery

Allen W. Avery Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, Allen William Avery, age 75, of Richfield, died Saturday, November 29, 2003. He was born January 15, 1928 in Venice, Utah, a son of Cyrus Lincoln and Amy Collings Avery. He attended Richfield High School and he graduated from Utah State University in 1970. Allen served in the United States Air Force in the 307th Squadron during the Korean Conflict. He served an LDS Mission in the Northwestern States Mission. Allen married Lois Noreen Christensen, December 18, 1950 in the Manti LDS Temple. They were later divorced. He married Lucy Hall, February 28, 1965 in Venice, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Provo LDS Temple, May 5, 1977. She died December 28, 1997. He married Carla Jean Sudweeks, March 6, 1998 in Richfield. Allen was an active member of the LDS Church and he was an avid genealogist. He enjoyed gardening. Allen is survived by his wife of Richfield; children: Cynthia and Rory Morgan of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Michael and Sharla Avery of Chubbuck, Idaho; step-children: Dorothy Barkdull of Fillmore; Jason K. Sudweeks of St. George; Brooke Winget and Angela M. Thomas, both of Richfield; 19 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; brother and sisters: Burton and Betty Avery of West Valley City; Carla Sharp of Richfield; Marva Helquist of West Jordan; Wanda and Neil Twitchell of Henderson, NV. He was preceded in death by a step-son, Lynn Sudweeks; his parents: Cyrus Lincolon Avery; Amy Avery Crouch and his step-father, Orson E. Crouch. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 4, 2003 at 12 Noon in the Richfield 8th LDS Ward Chapel, located at 100 East Center Street in Richfield. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. and at the ward chapel Thursday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Sevier VFW Post #5050 will be in the Venice Cemetery under the direction of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah
