Alma Ogden

March 25, 1921 — January 31, 2020

Richfield, Utah – Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, Alma Ruby Jolley Chynoweth Ogden, age 98, of Richfield, passed away January 31, 2020 in Richfield. She was born March 25, 1921 in Angle, Utah, a daughter of Reuben William and Minnie Savage Jolley. Alma’s education began in a one room school in Angle and continued in Antimony and Circleville, which required traveling by bus. She married Herman I. Chynoweth April 24, 1939 in Salt Lake City. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple March 1, 1951. Alma and Herman owned a farm in Angle, where they raised three children. The couple sold their farm and relocated to Richfield some five years before Herman passed away on August 11, 1964. Alma worked at the Pacific Trails Sewing Plant for nine and a half years. She married Max G. Ogden November 30, 1973 in Richfield. He passed away January 16, 1998. Alma is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in the MIA, as a visiting teacher and doing Temple work. She also served as a block teacher for some 50 years and was active in the 4-H Program. She enjoyed gardening and taking care of her yards. She is survived by a daughter, Kaye Brunson of Richfield; step-children: Jay Max and Camille Ogden, Patrice and Greg Bean, Graig H. and Gena Ogden, all of Richfield, Andrea and Robert Stratton of Orem, 7 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren, along with Max’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by both of her husbands; her two sons, Lynn Chynoweth and Gordon Chynoweth; as well as her three siblings: R.G. Jolley, Valdon Jolley and Elma Moore. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 10, 2020 at 12 Noon in the Springer Turner Funeral Home Chapel, where friends may call for viewing Monday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
