Alton Lewis Sudweeks

Circleville, Utah - Alton Lewis Sudweeks, age 80, passed peacefully away at his home in Circleville, July 1, 2016. He was born July 26, 1935 in Richfield, Utah a son of Alton D. and Olive Lewis Sudweeks. He graduated from Piute High School, Class of 1955 and attended Utah State University for one year. He served his country during the Korean Conflict from 1955 to 1957. Lewis married Nellie Ann Dee Porter, April 30 1960 in Nevada. They were later divorced. He was a member of the LDS Church. Lewis enjoyed participating in 4-H and was a delegate from Utah to the National 4-H Convention in Washington DC. He enjoyed the out of doors. He was entertaining and fun. He had a close relationship with his brother, Max, and shared the activities and joys of growing up on a farm with his cousins and friends. He taught his teenaged sisters to dance. His sense of humor was subtle and evident in daily conversation, though it could be biting at times. He had an amazing variety of friends and acquaintances. As a family, we are pleased that his passing was peaceful, and we are firm in the knowledge that Lewis is now surrounded by the loving arms of his parents and other family members. Lewis is survived by his siblings: Earl Max and Dorene Sudweeks of Layton; Moneice and Bob Stocker of Logan; Evan D. Sudweeks of Kingston; 17 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant son, David Lewis Sudweeks in 1962; his parents, Alton D. in 1991 and Olive L. Sudweeks in 2012; and a sister, Jetta Broshears in 2002. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at 12 Noon in the Kingston Cemetery. Friends may call for viewing at the Circleville LDS Ward Chapel, Wednesday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the VFW Piute Post #7561 and the Utah Honor Guard will be in the Kingston Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
