Ann Smit

Gunnison, Utah - Our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Ann Van Stenis Smit, age 82, of Gunnison, died October 6, 2012 in Provo, Utah, of complications from heart surgery. She was born June 16, 1930 in Rotterdam, Holland, a daughter of Gobel Marinus and Agata Helena Catarina Den Haan Van Stenis. She married John Huibertus Smit, June 4, 1952 in Rotterdam, Holland. Ann loved taking care of her beautiful garden, lawn and yard and all of the neighboring birds and animals. She is survived by her husband, John, of Gunnison; children: J. Marja and Jim Nowling of Richfield; Bas and Andrea Van Stenis, Ron and Dorothy Boender, all of South Africa; 3 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her father, Gobel Van Stenis, her mother and step-father, Catarina and Bas Boender, and two brothers: John Van Stenis and William Van Stenis. At her request, there will be no services.
