Mayfield, Utah – Arden Baker Hill, age 88, of Fayette, passed away May 20, 2008 in Mayfield, Utah, after several years struggling with Alzheimer’s disease. He was born in Fayette, Utah, on August 30, 1919, a son of James William and Sarah B. Hill. He was the youngest and last survivor of five children: Bonnie, Elaine, Barbara and Chester. He told of going door to door growing up asking for books and reading everything he could get his hands on. He received his Doctor of Philosophy degree from the United States International University of San Diego, California, on June 7, 1970. He met Lilath Roberts in Afton, Wyoming, married and solemnized July 16, 1942, in San Antonio, Texas. After returning from service in WWII, Arden moved his family to Los Altos, California, in 1952. In 1966 Arden and Lilath were divorced. Arden met Margorie Lind and married on November 29, 1975. Arden was a teacher, administrator, chess player, avid reader, psychologist, and lover of long walks and talks. His favorite author was Mark Twain and his favorite book, “The Little Shepard of Kingdom Come”. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Hill of Mendocino, and his four children: James of Gunnison; Larry and Liz of Sacramento; Marie and Eric Saur of Sacramento; Douglas of Fremont; 15 grand children; 20 great grandchildren; 2 step-children and 4 step-grand children. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 31, 2008 at 12 Noon in the Fayette LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may visit with the family from 10:00 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Gunnison American Legion Post #104 and the Utah National Guard will be in the Fayette Cemetery under the care of Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
