Arlon J. Nielson

Salina, Utah - Arlon Junius Nielson, age 88, of Salina, died July 7, 2007 in Gunnison. He was born January 19, 1919 in Greenwich, Utah, a son of Sidney Leonard and Sarah Gertrude Savage Nielson. Arlon graduated from North Sevier High School. He served in the US Air Corps in England for 4 years during WWII. He married Wilmoth Deaton July 28, 1941 in Ely, Nevada. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple June 29, 1965. Arlon was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in various positions. He served on the Salina City Council and was a volunteer fireman for the Salina Fire Department. He enjoyed farming and gardening and carpenter work. He used his carpentry skills and love of his garden to share with others. He is survived by his loving wife, Wilmoth, of Salina; two daughters: Eloise and Robert Brewer of Annabella; Trudy Sorensen of Salina; brother and sister: Newell and Mildred Nielson of Greenwich; Mary and Jack Bosh of Levan; sister-in-law: Carmel Nielson of Richfield. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters: Mazel A. and Melda Nielson; Gertrude and Larry Peterson; Ellis Nielson; Barbara and Maurlin Mickelsen. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at 12 Noon in the Salina 2nd LDS Ward Chapel, 87 South 100 East. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home, 150 East Main Street in Salina, Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or Wednesday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Salina American Legion Post #36 will be in the Salina Eastside Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
