Salina- Our hearts break over the loss of our devoted husband, father and grandfather, Arno Dean Bastian, born February 1, 1928 in Salina to Afflick, and Rosena Beda Johnson Bastian. He passed away November 6, 2015 in Richfield, due to complications of Parkinson’s with his devoted wife of 62 years by his side. Arno married LaJuana Sorensen, September 11, 1952 in the Manti LDS Temple. Arno is noted for his impeccable honesty and integrity of which he instilled these godly attributes to his children. We have seen miracles as prayers have been answered. Arno devoted a life time of service to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a Bishop, Scout Master, Stake President, Stake Patriarch and served two missions: a Full-time mission in Sweden and a mission in the Philippines with his wife, LaJuana. He served sixteen years in the Manti Temple, three of which was First Counselor in the Temple Presidency and the other years as Sealer and Ordinance worker. Arno is survived by his sweet wife LaJuana Bastian of Salina; children: Dwight (Janice) Bastian of West Jordan; Bruce (Joyleen) Bastian of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Mark (Lynn Marie) Bastian of Greeley, Colorado; Bonnie (Shayne) McKee of Roosevelt; 29 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Carl E. Bastian; a granddaughter, Celeste Bastian and a dear Aunt, Edna Violet Johnson. He is now welcome into his Eternal rest; where time is no more; to continue serving The Lord he so loved. All are invited to a viewing in his honor on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 from 6 to 8 PM at the Salina LDS Stake Center located at 98 West 400 North in Salina.
