Arva S. Shaw

Aurora, Utah - Our kind and beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister, Arva Simpson Shaw, age 78, of Aurora, died November 20, 2008 in Murray, Utah. She was born December 7, 1929 in Salt Lake City, a daughter of Mike and Mable Leona Watts Simpson. She married Carol Wayne Shaw, December 7, 1946 in Gunnison, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple July 20, 1957. Arva was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in all the auxiliaries. She and her husband, Carol, served as missionaries at the Church Store House in Sigurd for 8 years. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, quilting, doing handiwork, gardening and cooking. She is survived by her husband of Aurora; son: Mike and Joanne Shaw of Aurora; 3 grandchildren: Jamie Shaw, Nicole and Travis Christiansen, Jason Shaw; and 1 great-granddaughter: Maggie Jo Christiansen; sisters and brothers: Leora Sorenson, Viola Larsen, Stanley and DeNeece Simpson, Bobby and Kena Simpson, all of Salina. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 24, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. in the Aurora 1st LDS Ward Chapel, 85 North Main Street in Aurora, where friends may call for viewing Sunday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or Monday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Aurora City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
