Barbara Mickelsen

Salina, Utah - Our kind and loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Barbara Nielson Mickelsen, age 79 of Salina, returned home to her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, January 30, 2007 in Logan, Utah. She was born December 13, 1927 in Greenwich, Utah, the youngest daughter of Sidney Leonard and Sarah Gertrude Savage Nielson. She married Maurlin Dee Mickelsen July 30, 1948 in Cedar City, Utah. He died September 25, 2000. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. Barbara worked for SUFCO in Salina for twenty five years. She was an active member of the Salina American Legion Auxiliary Post #36 for over 52 years. Barbara was a loyal and wonderful friend to all, always ready to lend a hand to others. Barbara loved flowers and plants and ran “Barb’s Plant Place” in Salina, for many years. She is survived by her two children: Lori Mickelsen of Orlando, Florida; Julie and Jeff King and their four children, Kevin, Emilee, Sarah and Daniel King, all of Logan, Utah; brothers and sisters: Newell and Mildred Nielson of Greenwich; Arlon and Wilmoth Nielson of Salina; Mary and Jack Bosh of Levan; Ellis (Deceased) and Carmel Nielson of Richfield; Mazel and Melda Nielson, Gertrude and Larry Peterson, all deceased. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 7, 2007 at 12 Noon in the Salina LDS Stake Center, 98 West 400 North in Salina. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home, 150 East Main Street in Salina Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or at the Stake Center Wednesday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Salina Eastside Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to “Nourish The Children Foundation” C/O of Zions bank, P.O. Box 279, Salina, UT. 84654 in memory of Barbara Mickelsen.
