Centerfield, Utah – Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, Bartley Rex Jensen, age 72, passed away peacefully at his home on September 26, 2022.
Bart was born on June 28, 1950 in Salina, Utah, the son of Douglas Rex and Norma Pickett Jensen. He attended North Sevier High School, graduating with the class of 1968 and went on to attend Snow College and Utah State University. He married Sherrie Fjeldsted on May 6, 1983 in Centerfield. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti Temple on May 23, 1992. They raised 4 children together.
Bart worked in Salt Lake City doing sheetrock and other construction, starting with L.A. Young Construction, traveling all over the state working on various jobs. After he broke his ankle, he went to work with Jones and Demille Engineering in Richfield, where he worked until his retirement in December of 2020.
Bart was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and had a strong testimony of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. He served in many capacities throughout his life, both inside and outside of the church, including a few years as a councilman for Centerfield City. He served in the bishopric for the CUCF and the Centerfield Care Center, but his favorite calling was working in the scouting program.
Bart was a good dad and sincerely loved his family. He was both renowned and infamous for his dad jokes and took every opportunity to tell them. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and anything in the mountains. He loved sports including basketball and track, but his favorite sport was baseball, especially when his son Kurtis played in high school. He enjoyed sharing the things he loved with the people he cared about. He will leave an empty place in the hearts of his family. They look forward to being reunited with him.
Bart is survived by his wife, Sherrie Jensen of Centerfield; his children: Kurtis (Kim) Jensen, Brandy (Nathan) Shaver, Brett (Christy) Jacobson, Jeremy Roberts, Tracie (Keith) Carroll; his brothers: Hal (Diana) Jensen, Brent Jensen; mother-in-law: Veone Fjeldsted; 25 Grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter: Jamie Rae Lopez-Guynn; a granddaughter: Shaylynn Roberts; a sister-in-law: Mary Lee Jensen.
