Monroe, Utah - Our beloved son, brother, grandson and friend, Ben Eldon Chavis, age 30, died suddenly and very unexpectedly on Sunday, June 30, 2013 at his home in Monroe. He was born January 24, 1983 in Richfield, a son of Dan K. and Debra Lynn Hunt Chavis. Ben was a true cowboy, horseman, bullrider, jockey and like he always said, "a bronc stomper". He loved his family and friends with all of his heart. He was a gentle spirit that left us way too soon. He will not soon be forgotten. Ben is survived by his mother, Debra Upchurch of Richfield; father, Dan K. Chavis of Monroe; step-father, Tom Upchurch of Marysvale; sister and brother: Jenny and Dave Miller of Central Valley; Jesse James Chavis of New Orleans, Louisiana; grandparents: Duane and LuJean Hunt of Teasdale; Judy Taylor of Richfield. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Bud Edward and Beverly Ann Ence Chavis. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. in the Monroe LDS Stake Center, 140 South Main Street in Monroe. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Monday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or at the Stake Center in Monroe, Tuesday from 11:00 to 12:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Monroe City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
