Bernice Fullmer

June 1, 1931 — December 25, 2010

On a day we gathered with loved ones to celebrate the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ, December 25, 2010, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Evelyn Bernice Inkley Fullmer, passed quietly from this earth. She was born June 1, 1931 in Garfield, Utah, a daughter of William and Evelyn Burton Inkley. She married her beloved husband, Darrell Junior Fullmer, March 14, 1952 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. It is fitting that she passed away on Christmas Day, as she received the gift she had longed for since the death of her beloved husband, Darrell, three years earlier on November 26, 2007. Bernice graduated from Cyprus High School in Magna, Class of 1949 and Westminster College of Nursing in 1952 and was a Registered Nurse for forty two years. Much of her time as an RN was spent at Gunnison Valley Hospital in Gunnison, Utah, where she was a long time resident. She later moved to Payson, Utah. The last two years of her life were spent at Community Living Center in Centerfield, Utah. Bernice lived a long, happy life, full of many trials and tribulations, as she served the Lord humbly in the LDS Church. She loved music, especially listening to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, and was involved with many choirs herself as well as being Primary Chorister and Relief Society Chorister. Now she sings with the angels. She loved to go for rides in the car and often stopped for an ice cream afterwards. A fervent Temple attendee most of her life, one of her favorite places to go in later years was to visit the Manti Temple grounds. She also enjoyed collecting sayings that she kept in various notebooks and on the door of her refrigerator. One of her favorite sayings she kept on her refrigerator door in the Payson read: “You have to be young and foolish before you can be old and wise.” And she was wise. The Bible speaks of the value of a virtuous woman, and so she was an excellent example of that to all who knew her, with a very generous and forgiving nature. Her value to all who loved her and knew her well is priceless. She will be sorely missed by we who remain in this mortal existence, but will be forever near in our hearts. She is survived by her seven children: Kathleen Fullmer, David Fullmer, William and Linda Fullmer, Thomas and Barbara Fullmer, Caroline and John Black, James and Penny Fullmer, Amy and Jody Blackshear; 23 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Bill and Barbara Inkley, Heber and Kathryn Inkley. We mourn her passing, but we celebrate the knowledge that we will be reunited with her again through the promise that Christ our Lord represents; even as she has been reunited with her husband, Darrell; her mother, Evelyn Burton Inkley; her father, William Inkley; her brother, Keith Inkley; her sister, Betty Inkley; a brother-in-law, Frank Turner, who all preceded her death. In the last few years of her life, she often spoke of seeing them all again. Now her joyful reunion is complete. Funeral Services will be held Friday, December 31, 2010 at 12 Noon in the McDougal Funeral Home Chapel, 4330 South Redwood Road, where friends may call for viewing Friday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Taylorsville Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
