Bert Josiah Tuft

Aurora - Bert Josiah Tuft, age 63, of Aurora, died on Thursday, August 30, 2012, from complications following surgery in Provo. Bert was born July 27, 1949 in Richfield, Utah, a son to Roscoe Bert, and Elinore Chamberlain Tuft. Bert married Mickie Lou Anderson on September 13, 1968. He served in the US Air Force, and received an honorable discharge in 1971. Bert has resided in Aurora for the last 41 years. He retired from the Central Utah Correctional Facility in Gunnison, in July of 2011. Bert worked there as an Electronic Technician for 22 years. Bert was a loving and hardworking man, who loved his family and friends. He took care of those around him, while never thinking of himself first. He loved his grandchildren more than anything, and was often found playing with them and having fun. He enjoyed the outdoors, and spent many family outings camping, swimming, hunting, and paintballing. Bert is survived by his wife Mickie Lou Anderson Tuft of Aurora; his two sons: Travis and Heather Tuft of Riverton; Andy and Sheina Tuft of Monroe; his daughter Amanda and Cody Thomson of Heriman; his father Roscoe Tuft of Orangeville; his two brothers: Roy and Joyce Tuft of Las Vegas, Nevada; Ralph and Connie Tuft of Magnolia, Texas; his three sisters: Rhea Tuft of Cedar City; Claudia and Doug Anderson of Sandy; Janice and Randy Winn of Orangeville; his six grandsons: Derrick Tuft; Kieran Eccles; Trevor Tuft; Bryan Tuft; Chase Thomson; Cayden Thomson; his four granddaughters: Madison Tuft; Mikaela Thomson; Kinzy Tuft; Quinley Thomson; and numerous nieces and nephews, who loved him, and who he loved very much also. He was preceeded in death by his daughter Melinda Tuft; his mother Elinor Chamberlain Tuft; his father and mother in law Jesston and Donna Anderson; his brother in law Geary Taylor. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 4, 2012, in the Aurora 1st Ward Chapel, at 85 North Main in Aurora, Utah. Friends may call for viewing at the ward chapel, Monday from 6:00PM to 8:00PM, or Tuesday morning from 10:30AM to 11:30AM prior to services. Burial will be in the Aurora City Cemetery, under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home, of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
