Bessie Mellor

Fayette, Utah – Our kind and beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Bessie LaRue Thompson Mellor, age 90, passed away December 9, 2019 at the home of her son, Kurt, in Kearns, Utah. She was born December 3, 1929 in Mayfield, a daughter of Joseph Christian and Caroline Rebecca Jensen Thompson. She graduated from Manti High School, Class of 1947. She married the love of her life, Ivan Doyle Mellor, February 20, 1954 in Mayfield, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. Ivan died March 1, 2002. Bessie served faithfully in all of auxiliaries in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a worker in the Manti Temple for almost 6 years. Bessie was the Post Mistress in Fayette for 36 years, retiring in 2002. She enjoyed gardening and quilting. Bessie is survived by her children: Karen and John Moore of Provo; Kurt Mellor of Kearns; grandchildren: Adam Jay Moore and Brandon Brett Moore, both of Provo; Mike John and Jessica Moore of McKinney, Texas; and Jeremy Scott Moore of Moroni; 1 great-grandson: Brayden Harley Moore of McKinney, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Caroline Thompson; her husband, Ivan D. Mellor; 2 great-grandchildren: Milo Ivan Moore and Brooklynn Kelsi Moore; a sister, Gwendolyn and Bert Christiansen; and a brother, Ronald Joseph and Geri Thompson. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 11:00A.M. in the Fayette LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call for viewing Friday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Fayette Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
