American Fork/Bicknell, Utah - This world lost a gentle soul upon the death of Betty Jean Grass Savage on Tuesday, April 8, 2009 at the home of her daughter and family in Heber City. Betty was born August 6, 1932 in Willard, UT, a daughter of George Kenneth and Katherine Elizabeth Vera Smith Grass. Betty graduated from West High School in Salt Lake City, Class of 1949. She married Jesse Kent Savage 26 January, 1952, in Salt Lake City. They were sealed in the St. George LDS Temple, May 2, 1964, and celebrated their 57th anniversary this year. As an active member of the LDS Church, Betty served in many capacities including Primary Teacher, Visiting Teaching Coordinator, Relief Society President, Service Missionary at the Bishop’s Storehouse, and as a diligent Visiting Teacher. Her hobbies included sewing, embroidery, reading, the Utah Jazz (when they were winning), throwing family parties, cooking for her family (especially delicious peanut butter, chocolate chip cookies), road trips with her husband, and loving her grandchildren. Betty’s family would like to thank the angel Home Health Care nurses that attended her during her last days, and all of the medical professionals who lovingly and compassionately cared for her during her fight with breast cancer. Betty’s kind, loving and gentle spirit will be missed by her family, especially her devoted husband who stayed steadfastly at her side as she valiantly faced her treatments with acceptance and grace. To our beloved wife, daughter, mother and grandmother, God be with you ‘til we meet again. Betty is preceded in death by her father and a daughter, whom she was most anxious to see again. She is survived by her husband, Kent Savage of American Fork.
