Elsinore Utah- Betty returned home to a joyous Heavenly reunion with many loved ones at the age of 99. Betty was born on December 18, 1925, to Moroni Barney Jr. and Emma Carrigan Barney in Marysvale, Utah. Betty was the middle of three children. Raised on a farm Betty knew the value of hard work.
At the end of life, what really matters is not what we bought, but what we built:
Not what we got but what we shared: not competence, but character, not our success but our significance. Live a life that matters.
Live a life of love. This perfectly describes Betty. She lived a life that mattered. She was an amazing example of living a life of love. Betty loved everyone she met. She didn't meet a stranger, only friends. She loved visiting with others, and you would often find her with many visitors at her home. She truly loved all those she met.
During World War 2, Betty worked on Hill Airforce Base cleaning airplanes and then in Manti, Utah at the parachute factory. She also worked as a nurse's aide for 20 years.
Betty married Duane Busk Julander in the Manti LDS Temple, just before he went to war in 1942. Betty and Duane started a legacy of love with three children: Carl, Ethel, and Elaine.
Duane and Betty raised their family in Elsinore Utah, where Betty lived until a few months before she passed away. A few months shy of being 99 years old, Betty was still living in and taking care of her own home. Betty was an immaculate homemaker, amazing cook, quilt maker and caretaker. She worked very hard to make sure that nothing was ever wasted and that everything in her home was clean.
Betty loved her family and would visit with them every chance she could. She was always saying how much she loved all her kids! Betty had a deep love of her Savior, the gospel of Jesus Christ, and her Heavenly Father. She lived her life ready to meet them when it was her time to go. Towards the last few days of her life she would often say she was ready to see her Savior, and her family who had already passed on.
Betty is survived by her son Carl (Jeanene) Julander, son-in-law Devon Koyle, and a long legacy of beautiful grandchildren. Together, Betty and Duane, have 24 grandkids, 34 great-grandkids, and 10 great-great-grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her two daughters: Ethel Koyle and Elaine Solomon, and her siblings: Ardelle Barney and Romona Barney.
