Beulah Hunt Hafen

October 31, 1930 — February 6, 2014

Beulah Hunt Hafen, age 83, passed away February 6, 2014 in Monroe, Utah. She was born October 31, 1930 in Torrey, Utah, a daughter of and the eleventh child born to Charles Alfred and Alta Curtis Hunt. She graduated from Wayne High School, Class of 1948. She married Quincy LaVon Peterson, September 2, 1950 in Lyman, Utah. They were later divorced. She married Anthony "Tony" Paul Hafen, December 24, 1986 in St. George, Utah. He passed away December 21, 2011. Beulah was the Wayne County Clerk, Auditor and Recorder from 1967 to 1975. In 1971 she was elected as Lady Vice President of the Utah Association of Counties. Beulah later moved to St. George, where she managed the Best Western Coral Hills Motel, working also for the Washington County Recorder's Office. She was a hard worker all of her life, always involved with many projects such as Chairman of the Red Cross and Wayne County Queen Pageant. She had a talent for creating beautiful wedding cakes and did so for many nieces and nephews. She loved to sew and produced many wonderful quilts for family and friends. She enjoyed yard work and had a large vegetable garden which she shared with everyone around her. Beulah is survived by her children: Gregory Peterson of Pocatello, Idaho; Weston and Rachelle Peterson of Central, Utah; Debra and Bradley Nielson of Elsinore, Utah; 3 grandchildren: Jason and Kelsey Winn of Elsinore; Travis and Kelsey Winn of Elsinore; Camryn Preece of Salt Lake City, Utah; 2 great-grandchildren: Jasey Ryan Winn of Elsinore and Scotian Stewart of Salt Lake City; step-children: Debra and Steve Wood of St. George; Diane and Chuck Cluff, Muggy and Jill Hafen, all of Emmett, Idaho; Buster and Paula Hafen of West Bountiful; nephew and niece, Jeffrey and Julie Hafen of St. George. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tony Hafen; and all of her siblings: Floyd Hunt, Rulon Hunt, Violet Chaffin, Duella Weber, Ruby Gibbons, Lillian Long, Lucille Sawdey, Cleland Hunt, Vida Behunin and Donna Lunnen. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and nurses at Monroe Canyon Assisted Living and to Gunnison Home Health and Hospice, for their tender and loving care, concerns and help with our dear Mother. There truly are "Angels among us". Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. in the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, West St. George Blvd. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Thursday, February 13, 2014 from 6 to 8 P.M. or at the Metcalf Mortuary, Saturday from 12 Noon to 1:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Tonaquint Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
