Bill Anderson

January 27, 1939 — February 16, 2010

Salina, Utah - William Jay "Bill" Anderson, age 71, died February 16, 2010 at his home in Salina. He was born January 27, 1939 in Axtell, Utah, a son of Jay B. And Leah Nielsen Anderson. He lived in Axtell and Salina during his early years. In 1946, the family moved to Salt Lake City. Bill graduated from Olympus High School, Class of 1957 and from the University of Utah College of Law in 1967. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard and he also served an LDS Mission in Mexico. Bill married Peggy Hansen, November 20, 1961 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were later divorced. He married Carol Redelings, March 30, 1978 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were later divorced. In September of 1983, Bill married Ana Maria Bran. She has beend and will always be the love of his life. They were sealed in the Manti LDS Temple in January of 2007. Bill practiced law in Salt Lake City for three years and worked for Navajo Legal Aid Service in Window Rock, Arizona; for the Zuni Indian Tribe in Zuni, New Mexico; the for Nez Perce Tribe in Lewiston, Idaho and for the Shoshone Tribe in Elko, Nevada. He also worked in the title insurance business and worked for 22 years with his wife, Ana, legalizing undocumented workers. In recent years, Bill was a substitute teacher in Richfield and Salina. The students called Bill "the cool sub". He also wrote a column for the Salina Sun Newspaper and was past president of the Salina Lion's Club 2007- 2008. Bill will be missed by everyone who knew him; by his children for his 50 cent stories, his grandchildren for the jokes that he pulled on them; Martin for calling him late at night to tell him and new joke and especially by Ana, his soul mate. And for the bells he made her hear. Bringing two families together in marriage, Bill and Ana have a large family. He is survived by his soul mate, Ana, of Salina; children: Rossybel and Larry Hodgson of West Jordan; Jay and Tracie Zepeda of Denver; Julie and Matthew Vesely of Salt Lake City; Jenny and Jeff Landis of West Jordan; Martin and Char Zepeda of Virginia; Meghan and Layne Pantone of Sandy; Juan Jose and Sabin Zepeda of West Jordan; Emily and Chris DeHaan of Cottonwood Heights; Annie and Scott Noethlich of Florida; J. Tony Smith and Diane Hidy of San Francisco, California; his father, Jay Anderson of Salina; his two sisters: Rita Young of Murray; Peggy Burt of Eagle Mountain. He is preceded in death by his mother, Leah Anderson; a son, Leoh Jay Anderson; a granddaughter, Rossanna Hummel; and his brother, Lee Anderson. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 20, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. in the Salina LDS Stake Center, 98 West 400 North in Salina. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home, 150 East Main Street in Salina, Friday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or Saturday at the Stake Center from 11:30 to 12:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Salina American Legion Post #36 will be in the Salina Eastside Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
