Bill Brown

June 8, 1940 — September 24, 2005

Teasdale, Utah - William Henry (Bill) Brown, age 65, passed away at his home in Teasdale on Saturday, September 24, 2005 after a six year battle with Multiple Myeloma. He was born June 8, 1940 in Santa Rosa, California, a son of Stanley Wesley and Maybelle Marie Valentine Brown. He was married 40 years ago to Nancy Dean Farabee in Tucson, Arizona. He is survived by Nancy, and their son, Stanley Charles (Nicole) Brown of Saratoga, California; and their daughter Jennifer Dean (Kent) Lenci of San Carlos, California; and four grandchildren: Brandon Charles Brown, Brianna Nicole Brown, Taylor Dean Lenci and Trent William Lenci. He was preceded in death by his parents. Bill was a member of the Professional Engineers Association, Doctors for Disaster Preparedness (to whom he was known as “Professor Wilhelm”), and a life member of the NRA/ILA Institute for Legislative Action, and Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. He was, most proudly, a member of the Wayne County Search and Rescue. Bill was active in the civil air patrol in high school and was nominated to the United States Air Force Academy in 1960. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from San Jose State, California and a master’s degree in nuclear engineering from the University of Arizona and worked for General Electric for thirty-five years. He enjoyed astronomy, anthropology, flying, backpacking and skin-diving. He was a master of military fire arms and loved shooting his Officers Colt 45. Near the end a pact with Nancy was negotiated: “Eat you lunch, shoot your Colt.” Search and Rescue friends then carried Bill to an improvised range for his final shots. Bill was a student of eastern philosophy and Buddhism and enjoyed discussions with his friends on all matters mentioned above and more. His work and handshake were his bond, his goal to leave behind honor not wealth. It was not for him to yield up a pampered body, rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, loudly proclaiming, “WOW, what a ride!” Although Bill and Nancy lived in many places and three foreign countries during the GE years, their retirement times together in Teasdale were their happiest, where Bill’s primary hobby was “keeping the cook [Nancy] happy.” Memorial services for Bill will take place on Thursday, September 29, 2005 at 1:00 P.M. in the Teasdale Cultural Hall, Teasdale, Utah. At his request, Bill’s remain have been cremated and burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, 3 Forest Street, New Canaan, Connecticut 06840. Funeral Directors: Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
