Salina, Utah - William “Bill” N. Maxwell, age 86, of Salina, passed away unexpectedly from us on November 18, 2004. He was born July 31, 1918 in Whigham, Georgia, a son of Jesse Robert and Ethel Hurst Maxwell. He served his country proudly in the US Navy during World War II on the Pacific front. Bill married Lola Shepherd on June 28, 1939 in Richfield, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on March 22, 1980. Bill loved keeping his yard and garden well groomed. He loved fishing and hunting with his three sons and fishing buddies. He was a member of the Salina American Legion Post #36 for 53 years. He was convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served faithfully in his callings. Bill is survived by wife and companion of 65 years, Lola Maxwell of Salina; daughter, Geraldine and Ron Thompson of Idaho Springs, ID; three sons, Ronald and Mandy Maxwell of Weatherford, TX; Robert and Suzette Maxwell of Sandy; Jim and Terri Maxwell of Salina; 15 grandchildren: Stuart Thompson, Suzie Thompson, Rod Maxswell, Ryan Maxwell, Marnie Maxwell, Mistie Maxwell, Rhett Maxwell, Robbie Maxwell, Ethan Maxwell, Rachel Maxwell, Zach Maxwell, Jon Maxwell, Jeff Maxwell, Stacie Maxwell and Jed Maxwell; 18 great-grandchildren; brother, Edd and Faye Maxwell of Brandenton, FL;. He was preceded in death by five brothers. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 22, 2004 at 12 Noon in the Salina LDS Stake Center, 98 West 400 North in Salina. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Salina, Sunday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. and at the Stake Center, Monday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Salina American Legion Post #36 will be in the Salina Eastside Cemetery under the direction of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
