Blaine J. Torgenson

Salina, Utah - Blaine J. Torgenson, age 80, of Salina, died September 22, 2007 at his home in Salina. He was born September 5, 1927 in Salina, a son of Joseph Clinton and Hazel Sampson Torgenson. He was a Veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army. He married Lila Rae Ivie June 26, 1948 in Salina. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple March 12, 1963. Blaine worked at Georgia Pacific where he was a heavy equipment operator. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lila Rae of Salina; children: Barbara Ann and Redge Hansen of Grand Junction, Colorado; Lois Elaine and Boyd Schow of Salt Lake City; David J. and Denene Torgenson of Salina; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren with two more on the way; a sister, Norma Sturdevant of Springville and a sister-in-law: Sarah Torgenson. He was preceded in death by a brother, Don C. Torgenson. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 27, 2007 at 12 Noon in the Salina LDS Stake Center, 98 West 400 North. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Salina, Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or at the Stake Center Thursday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Salina American Legion Post #36 will be in the Eastside Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
