Bob Benson

May 15, 1934 — September 1, 2005

Monroe, Utah - Robert Neil Benson, age 71, passed away peacefully at home after a gallant battle with brain cancer on September 1, 2005. He was born May 15, 1934 in Goreville, Illinois, a son of Frank and Lucille Eastman Benson. He was married to Sally in 1955 in St. Louis, Missouri and later divorced. He married Anna Evelyn Williams, September 24, 1980 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Bob graduated from Effingham, Illinois High School in 1950. He went to college for three years and then in the United States Army for two years. Bob was a Telephone Engineer by trade, working for the Telephone Company in California. He was a fantastic woodworker, photographer and computer programmer. Bob is survived by his wife, Anna, of Monroe; two sons: Lonnie Collingsworth of Monroe and William Collingsworth of Las Vegas, Nevada; his mother-in-law: Wealtha Meyer of Monroe. He also has four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Wilma Jean Benson; a brother, James Benson and a daughter, Teresa Ann Collingsworth. The family would like to thank all of our friends for their love and support during this trying time. Private family services were held at the family home in Monroe. At his request, Bob’s remains have been cremated and burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Daryn Hall Fund in care of Wells Fargo Bank, 125 West 1300 South in Richfield. We don’t know little Daryn, but we know he has the same type of cancer as Bob and we wish him the best. Funeral directors: Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
