Bobby Yazzie

Bobby Yazzie Joseph, Utah - Our beloved father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, Bobby “Uncle Bobby” Yazzie, age 51, peacefully passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2003, surrounded by his loving family, in Provo, Utah. He was born April 19, 1952 in Richfield, Utah, a son of Fred and Julia Timican Yazzie. He attended schools in Sevier County and Cache County. Bobby served his country in Viet Nam from 1970 to 1972. He loved being surrounded by his nieces and nephews. He had a lively youth and liked fast cars and loud music. He enjoyed going on drives thru the surrounding canyons, cookouts and anywhere he was surrounded by his family. Uncle Bobby was a jokester and liked playing tricks and telling jokes to his nieces and nephews. He loved his family and supported them in whatever endeavor they were involved in. He is survived by a son, Kenneth James Charles of Richfield; sisters: Jolene Yazzie, St. George; Fredena Conway, Joseph; Deborah Ann Levi, Salt Lake City; Ganaver Timican, Richfield; Jean Featherhat, Cedar City; brothers: Elliott Yazzie, Richfield; Rick Yazzie, Salt Lake City. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Yazzie, Julia Timican Mayo and step-father, Willis Mayo; sisters: Mary Ann Yazzie, Betty Jean Yazzie, Wilma Mayo, Bessie Yazzie and a brother, George Yazzie. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 11, 2003 at 10:00 A.M. in the Springer Turner Funeral Home Chapel, 260 North 400 West, in Richfield. There will be a traditional Indian Sing at the Koosharem Band of Paiutes Building, 800 North 100 East in Richfield, starting Wednesday at 6:00 P.M. until Thursday morning at sunrise. Additional viewing will be at the Springer Turner Funeral Home Chapel, Thursday after 9:00 A.M. Burial, with military honors accorded by the Southern Paiute Indian Veterans Association will be in the Richfield City Cemetery under the direction of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
