Bonnie Christensen

Spring City, Utah - Our kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, Bonnie Gail Case Christensen, age 79, passed away at her home in Spring City on November 21, 2016 after a valiant battle with cancer. Bonnie was born February 8, 1937 in Annabella, Utah, a daughter of Marion Arnold and Louisa Barney Case, and the 9th of their 10 children. She graduated from South Sevier High School, Class of 1955, where she met and later married her sweetheart, Duane L. Christensen on June 1, 1956 in Annabella. Their marriage was solemnized in the Los Angeles LDS Temple May 23, 1964. They lived a short time in Richfield before moving to Escondido, California where they raised their 3 children. In 2000 they left the big city to return back to Utah, and Spring City where they currently live. Bonnie was an active member of the LDS Church. She had various callings in the church, including Sunday School Teacher and serving in the Relief Society Presidency, but her favorite calling was serving and teaching in the Primary. She loved the Primary Children. Bonnie was known for her canning: mostly sweet and dill pickles; dilly beans; and pickled beets, which they grew in their garden. A meal just wasn't complete without a bottle of grandma's home canned goodness. She was an accomplished seamstress. She loved gardening, and was a prolific weed puller. She enjoyed oil painting and doing crafts. She made beautiful decorations for many weddings. She loved music, especially country music, and LDS Church Hymns. She was famous in her family for her candy making: Divinity, Cherry Chocolates, Peanut Brittle, and Peanut Butter Cups. Many people were lucky recipients of her delectable treats over the years. She is survived by her beloved husband, Duane, of Spring City; her children: Kim and Darlene Christensen of Orem; Cindy and Chris Anderson of Spanish Fork; Rand and Cindy Jo Christensen of Spring City; 11 grandchildren; 14.5 great-grandchildren; brother and sister: Allen and Evelyn Case, Peggy and Doug White, all of Richfield; and a brother-in-law: Herb Gukeisen of Central Valley. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louisa and Arnold Case; brother and sisters: Vern Case, Maurine Gukeisen, Elva Shephard, Jean Hansen, Lenna Case, Barbara Sharp and Luella Allred. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. in the Springer Turner Funeral Home Chapel, 260 North 400 West in Richfield, where friends may call for viewing Saturday morning from 11:30 to 12:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Annabella City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
