Bonnie George Sloan Monroe, Utah - Bonniebelle George Sloan, age 84, of Monroe, returned home to her Father in Heaven on October 18, 2003 in Richfield, Utah. She will be missed by us all , but we know she is rejoicing with all her loved ones there. She was born March 9, 1919 in Fort Collins, Colorado, a daughter of Elton Quincy and Lillian Elizabeth Jarvis Morton. She married Clifton George, May 5, 1940 in El Monte, California. Their marriage was solemnized in the Los Angeles LDS Temple July 21, 1964 and their two sons, Richard and Wayne, were sealed to them at that time. Clifton passed away July 14, 1988 after 48 years of marriage. She married William D. Sloan, April 8, 1989 in Sacramento, California. He passed away May 21, 1994. Bonnie loved to travel and did so with Clifton. They traveled to the East Coast on one trip where they visited many of the LDS Church historical sites, such as Palmyra, Hill Cummorah and the Pagent, the Sacred Grove, Nauvoo and Joseph Smith’s birthplace in Vermont. They also traveled to Canada and most every state in the union including Hawaii. In her travels, wherever there happened to be a Temple, Bonnie would visit that Temple and do an endowment for someone. Among the Temples visited were Salt Lake, Provo, Los Angeles, St. George, Mesa, Hawaii, Georgia, Manti and Bountiful. Bonnie enjoyed painting and some of her paintings grace the walls in the homes of her sons. She stopped painting when the trembling in her hands became hard for her to control the brush. However, recently she was teaching her granddaughter, Cathy, to paint. Bonnie worked for over 40 years as a secretary, mostly in the school systems and 12 years at Aerojet General Corp. in California. Bonnie was active in the LDS Church, mostly during her younger years. She held many callings from Den Mother for her sons, Mutual Marrieds Leader, Dance Instructor in the MIA, Teach in both Sunday School and Mutual, Relief Society Counselor and Secretary, and Counselor in the MIA and a Visiting Teacher. She also served with her husband, Clifton, a church mission in Salt Lake City for the Utah Salt Lake City North Mission Office. They had many happy times together and are probably dancing and traveling again, now. Until we met again, farewell. Bonnie is survived by her son, Wayne and his wife, Becky of Monroe, Utah; daughter-in-law, Dolores George of Kennesaw, Georgia; 14 grandchildren: Victoria and Nick Patsantaras of Grand Junction, Colorado; Elizabeth and Chris Crismon of Monroe, Utah; Michael and Laura George of Monroe, Utah; Adam and Emily George of Cedar City, Utah; Andrew and Sarah George of Cedar City, Utah; Catherine and Robert Florang of St. George, Utah; David and Adrianna George of Lawrenceville, Georgia; Shannon and Jonathan Parris of Provo, Utah; Sherianne George of New York City, New York; Gina and Tod Page of Provo, Utah; Jeffrey George, serving an LDS Mission; Mark George and Christina George, both of Kennesaw, Georgia; 9 great-grandchildren: Zoe, Brianna, Justin, Alexander, Arielle, Celeste, Rachel, Benjamin and Lana Lee.; 1 brother, Donald E. and his wife, Billie Jean Morton of Redding, California. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert George and a grandson, Matthew George and a nephew, Steven Morton. Graveside services will be held Thursday, October 23, 2003 at 3:00 P.M. in the Monroe City Cemetery under the direction of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
