Gunnison, Utah - Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Boyd H. Brady, age 81, died July 27, 2008 at his home in Gunnison, after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born October 7, 1926 in Standardville, Utah, a son of Cyrus Heber and Eva Allowee Anderson Brady. His early education was in Fairview, Provo, and Ephraim. He graduated from Ephraim High School, Class of 1944. Shortly after graduation, he entered the US Army, just a few months before World War II ended, serving two years, one year in Japan in the Army of Occupation in General MacArthur’s headquarters. After being discharged from the military, he attended Snow College and BYU, earning a Bachelors’ and Masters’ Degree in Education. During his last quarter at BYU, he married Glena Childs on November 18, 1949 in the Manti LDS Temple. Their union blessed them with four children: Bruce, Ronald, Susan and Scott. Boyd supported his family as an educator and an education administrator for many years. He was active in the LDS Church throughout his married life, serving in almost all of the church organizations, including Sunday School, MIA, Primary, Priesthood callings and in several Bishoprics, once as Bishop. He also served on three High Councils. His most cherished callings were teaching adult classes, Gospel Doctrine, Temple Preparation, Gospel Essentials and Family Relations. He also enjoyed working in the Manti Temple for ten years. Boyd is survived by his loving wife, Glena, of Gunnison; children: Bruce and Janette Brady of Kanosh; Ronald Brady of Los Angeles, California; Susan and David Anderson of St. George; Scott and Shalice Brady of Monroe; 13 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brothers, Gale and Juanita Brady of Santa Maria, California; Con and Mary Brady of Highland. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 2, 2008 at 11:00A.M. in the Gunnison LDS Stake Center, 80 West Center in Gunnison, where friends may call for viewing Friday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Gunnison American Legion Post #104 will be in the Gunnison City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
