Boyd J. Hiskey

November 15, 1925 — September 22, 2006

Teasdale, Utah - Our kind and beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, Boyd Joseph Hiskey, age 80, died September 22, 2006 at his home in Teasdale, after a long illness, surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 15, 1925 in Teasdale, Utah, a son of Joseph Benjamin and Luva Forsyth Hiskey. He attended 10 years at Wayne Highs School in Bicknell. Boyd was a Veteran of World War II, where he served in the United States Army from June of 1944 to June of 1946 in Europe. He was a P.O.W. He married Vera Winter, June 26, 1946 in the Manti LDS Temple and they celebrated 60 years of marital bliss this past June. Boyd was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in many callings including Elders Quorum President, Ward Clerk, Bishop’s Counselor and Bishop of the Teasdale Ward. Boyd hauled milk for Nelson Ricks Creamery in Loa and later for Pet Milk Company in Monroe, Utah from 1954 to 1961. He retired from 25 years of working on Dixie National Forest Service as a Range Technician. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and he loved Boulder Mountain. He enjoyed hauling wood, cutting cedar posts and also worked as a butcher for many years. He is survived by his loving wife of Teasdale; children: Joyce and Dana McClure of Mesa, Arizona; Dennis and Maridee Hiskey of Teasdale; Lynnette and Daniel Peterson of Monroe; Delene and Michael Stevenson of Salt Lake City; Pauline and Paul Taylor of Fremont; 22 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers: Renabelle and Albert Davis of Spanish Fork; Joan Jensen of Torrey; President Harold and Mona Hiskey of St. George; Michael and Mary Ann Hiskey of Spanish Fork. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Austin Benjamin Hiskey that died at the age of 17; a brother-in-law, Talmage Jensen and a nephew, Thomas Hiskey. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Teri Ann Leavitt, Becca Chappell, Connie Durfey, Sara Rees and Gunnison Hospice for their help, kindness and concerns during Boyd’s final illness. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at 1:00P.M. in the Teasdale Cultural Hall. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Monday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or at the cultural hall inTeasdale Tuesday morning from11:00 to 12:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Harold Brown American Legion Post #92 will be in the Teasdale Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
