Boyd Nelson

Salina, Utah - William Boyd Nelson, age 79, died December 8, 2005 at his home in Salina after a valiant battle with liver cancer. He was born November 10, 1926, in Widtsoe, Utah, a son of Fredrick Theodore and Matilda Pauline Hoffman Nelson. Boyd graduated from North Sevier High School, Class of 1945. He married Doris Lorraine Nielsen, July 8, 1947 in Salina, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. Lorraine died November 19, 1996. Boyd married Betty Minty Barney Julander, April 1, 2005 in Elsinore, Utah. Boyd was a member of the LDS Church, having served as a ward clerk and secretary in High Priest Group. He also served on the Salina City Council for four years. Boyd served as a Little A League coach for 4 years. He owned the B - L Drive-In in Salina for 14 years and every employee loved working for him. He delivered milk for Highland Dairy for 28 years and was known as “The Milkman”. Boyd managed the Utah State Liquor Store in Salina for 28 years and he also enjoyed farming for many years. Boyd was a great fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. He is survived by his wife, Betty M. Julander Nelson of Elsinore; two sons: Brett W. (Rusti B.) Nelson of Salina; Rocky B. (Shonnie) Nelson of Springville; 6 grandchildren: Beau W. (April) Nelson of Mississippi; Devin B. Nelson and Shyanne A. Nelson, both of Salina; Erica (Charles) Madon, Julie Nelson and Tyler Nelson, all of Springville; 3 great-grandchildren; step-children: Carl (Jeanene) Julander of Richfield; Ethel (DeVon) Koyle of Orem; 15 step-grandchildren, many step-great-grandchildren and 1 step-great-great-grandchild; sister, Betty Nelson of Springville. He was preceded in death by is first wife, Lorraine; parents, Fred and Matilda Nelson and a brother, Bob Nelson. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 13, 2005 at 12 Noon in the Salina LDS Stake Center, 98 West 400 North in Salina. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home, 150 East Main Street in Salina, Monday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 and at the stake center Tuesday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Salina Eastside Cemetery under the direction of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
