Boyd Paul (Sid) Anderson

February 12, 1933 — April 24, 2015

If you are reading this I have left this earthly place to find a nice fishin’ hole to put my boat in and drop a line. I passed away April 24, 2015 having had a wonderful and blessed life. I was born February 12, 1933 in Rolapp, Carbon County, Utah, the oldest of three children. My family moved to Manti, UT when I was a young child where I went to school and graduated. As a child I helped my dad raise turkeys and started working in the family Dog Valley Coal Mine at the age of 12 as a gopher. As a teenager I had a lot of good times getting into mischief with my buddy Murray. In 1951 I enlisted in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict for four years and was stationed in Wichita Falls, TX and Sacramento, CA. I married my high school sweetheart Marilyn (Smitty) Smith on October 12, 1951 celebrating almost 64 years of marriage and four children, Scott, Sheila, Suzette and Sid. After California, we moved back to Utah to raise our family. We owned Dog Valley Coal Mine, Boyd Anderson Trucking and Anderson Transport helping to build many roads and highways in Utah, Arizona, Nevada and Idaho. In 1974 we moved to Las Vegas, NV, to start a new adventure where we owned Bonanza Ready Mix and Bonanza Materials along with the Trucking and Transport companies supplying many materials for roads, highways, bridges and casinos. Retirement was very rewarding. I enjoyed spending time at our cabin, fishing at Fish Lake, boating on Lake Mead and spending time with my family. Survived by my wife Marilyn, Salina, UT, our children and their spouses, Scott and Sandy, Bountiful, UT, Sheila, Gunnison, UT, Suzette and Gary Sterner, and Sid and Robin, Las Vegas, NV. My grandchildren, their spouses and my great grandchildren, Rusty, Shiloh(Mar and Jordi – residing in Barcelona, Spain), Rhett (Teresa, Gage Boyd and Emree), Melissa (Greg, Brayden, and baby boy), Cassidy(Kris and Wylie), Sean(Sallie and Adalee), Chansey (Chance and Hendrix), Cortney (Cody), Siara (Shawn and baby girl) Challis and Leandra (Michael and Avery). That’s eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren including Kezzley and Tezlin, with two due in October. Wow…. what a legacy. I have had great friends in my life which include Murray, Kent (Speedy), and Joe to get into trouble with. Preceded in death by my parents Archie Paul and Adelia (Ada) Sidwell Anderson, brother Donald, sister Carolyn, brother-in-law Mel, nephew Paul and niece Janone Jensen, including many family and friends that I look forward to seeing again. Thank you to the doctors and care givers at the Mission Community Care Center, Gunnison Valley Hospital, Gunnison Home Health Care and Hospice, and Huntsman Cancer Institute for their kindness, compassion and care. My celebration of life services will be held Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 12 Noon at the Salina LDS Stake Center 98 West 400 North, Salina, Utah. A viewing at the Salina LDS Stake Center 98 West 400 North, Salina, Utah, will be Friday evening from 6 to 8 pm and again at the Stake Center Saturday, May 2, 2015 from 9:30 to 11:30 am prior to services. My burial will be in the Manti City Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Manti American Legion Post #31 and the Hill Air Force Base Honor Guard under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
