Brenda Rae Coleman

Marysvale, Utah - Our beloved wife, mother and friend, Brenda Rae Rowden Coleman, age 46, died December 24, 2010 at her home in Marysvale, after a short, but valiant battle with colon cancer. She was born May 17, 1964 in Denver, Colorado, a daughter of George Robert and Virginia Marie Swank Rowden, of Parker, Colorado. Brenda’s family moved from Colorado to Missouri in the late 1960's. Her mother died in 1978 and then the family moved to Monroe, Utah, to lived with Don and Joyce Smith, Brenda’s aunt and uncle. She graduated from South Sevier High School, Class of 1982. Brenda married Kevin Scott Coleman, known as “Scott” to all his family and friends, September 13, 1982 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They have two children, Virginia Marie, age 11 and John Wesley, age 8. They made their home in Marysvale, Utah. Brenda served with the Piute County EMT Crew for many years. She was a volunteer at the Oscarson Elementary School and was instrumental in helping to rebuild the school ballfields. She helped many of the elderly folks in town when they needed any kind of help. She was very civic minded and volunteered for many of the town projects that needed to be done. She was active in the Girl Scout Program. Brenda enjoyed playing the piano, doing all kinds of crafts, crocheting, knitting and handiwork. She loved all animals and had many different ones in her home. She was the type of person that would master something and then move on to the next thing to learn and master. Brenda was the owner and operator, along with her husband, Scott, of Coleman Excavation and BC Construction Company in Marysvale for the past 25 years. They did a lot of building demolition, excavation and construction all over the state of Utah. Most recently, she worked on the remodeling of Ashman Elementary School in Richfield. You could see her from dawn to dusk, out working, right along with her husband. Brenda is survived by her husband, Scott; her children: Virginia and John, all of Marysvale; her uncle and aunt, Don and Joyce Smith of Monroe. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Virgina Rowden. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 31, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. in the Springer Turner Funeral Home Chapel, 260 North 400 West, in Richfield, where friends may visit with the family Thursday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Marysvale Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
