Bruce George Morrell

August 28, 1962 — June 7, 2016

Fremont, Utah – Our dear father, brother, uncle, and friend, Bruce George Morrell, passed away in Murray, Utah on June 7, 2016, at the age of 53. Bruce was born on August 28, 1962 in Salina, Utah, a son of George Loen and Arda Mae Sorenson Morrell. Bruce graduated from Wayne High School class of 1980 and loved to attend the “fights” (wrestling matches). Bruce was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He married Natalie Hunt in the Manti Temple on August 8, 1981, later divorced. Bruce was a true cowboy. He lived and worked with the land and animals his whole life. He was fortunate enough to be raised and live in beautiful Wayne County. After attending a year at SUU he took a job working for Met Johnson in Salina and then returned home to work with his dad and run his own farm and cattle operation. Bruce worked for Wayne County, Producers Livestock in Salina, and currently until the time of his death, for R Livestock in Monroe. Bruce loved the horse races. He was involved with the horse racing industry as owner and acting on occasion as Grand Marshall. Bruce was well loved by his family and friends of whom he made happy memories with, traveling to the “Pony Drags” (races) and gathering cows down in the desert. Bruce felt most at home when he was on the back of a horse followed by a good cowdog. Bruce was very proud of his daughter Jocee and was thrilled when he gained a son Cooper, he loved them both dearly. Bruce lived with “damn” diabetes, a disease which ultimately contributed to his death. Bruce is survived by his beloved daughter and son-in-law Jocee and Cooper Walk, his siblings; Lynette Johnson of Orangeville, Jeri (Karl) Albrecht of South Jordan, Beth (Joel) Bass of South Ogden, Jody (ViJay) Kumar of Lehi, Kade (Michelle) of Morgan, many nieces and nephews, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Arda Mae Morrell. In our hearts Bruce will always be the American cowboy little boys hope to become, and the kind man, many have not. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 13, 2016, at 1:00 P.M. in the Loa LDS Stake Center. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Sunday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or at the Stake Center in Loa Monday morning from 11:00 to 12:30 prior to the services.
