Vermillion, Utah - Bryce Ole Thalman, age 51, passed away December 5, 2010, peacefully at home after a life-long struggle with health problems. He was born March 7, 1959 in Richfield, a son of Mack A. and Lael Payne Thalman. He was raised in Vermillion and attended schools in Richfield, where he graduated from Richfield High School and LDS Seminary. He also attended Snow College, Utah State University and he graduated from Steven Heneger’s Business College. Bryce contracted polio at the age of four. Although it caused muscle loss in his legs, he was determined to walk and play. He enjoyed farming with his father, driving tractors and lawn mowers. He enjoyed sports, particularly baseball, and was an avid Yankees and Jazz fan. He also enjoyed bowling and participated in leagues for several years. Bryce was a career attendee of the annual Sigurd motorcycle trip. He loved riding his Oddssey and the freedom that gave him. Bryce was an active member of the LDS Church where he served in many church callings, including working at the Manti Temple for two years. Bryce had a special way to make all around him smile, his wit and sense of humor were contagious. He was loved by all who knew him, but especially his nieces and nephews - - he holds a special place in their hearts. As a family, we wish to express our gratitude for all those who helped Bryce in this earthly journey. There are too many to name, but know that we love and appreciate you. Bryce is survived by his mother, Lael Thalman, of Vermillion; his siblings: Matt and Cynthia Thalman of West Jordan; Laurie and Robert Brems of Lehi; Cindy and Fred Blackham of Maple Valley, Washington; Lisa and Kim Hillyard of Kent, Washington; Tony and Kristie Thalman of North Las Vegas, Nevada; 11 nieces; 10 nephews; 2 great-nieces and 3 great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents: Albert Verg Thalman; Esther Jensen Thalman; Lionel Claude and Betha Payne; Faye Conder and N. Louie Detro. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 11, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. in the Sigurd LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Friday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or at the ward chapel in Sigurd, Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Vermillion Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to LDS Church Perpetual Education Fund in memory of Bryce.
