Monroe, Utah - Bud Edward Chavis, age 73, of Monroe, died April 3, 2005 at the home of his sister, in Sandy, Utah. He was born May 7, 1931 in Monroe, Utah, a son of Eldon Helaman and Ella Velate Pearson Chavis. Bud graduated from South Sevier High School, Class of 1949. He served his country during the Korean Conflict in the US Navy from 1950 to 1954. Bud married Beverly Ence, January 20, 1954 in Richfield, Utah. They had three children and were later divorced. He was a member of the LDS Church. Bud worked for the telephone company as a telephone installer. He had lived in Monroe, Kanab and most recently in Sandy, Utah. He enjoyed calf roping. Bud is survived by his children: Dan Chavis, Trina and Ron Ballard, all of Monroe; Anita and Brian Purser of West Jordan; 9 granchildren: Heather and Tyler Huntsman, Ben, Jesse and Jennie Chavis, Nash, Tyler and Elliott Purser, Chanelle and Ashlee Ballard; brother and sister: Larry Chavis of West Jordan and Cheryl Chavis of Sandy. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 9, 2005 at 12 Noon in the Monroe 1st LDS Ward Chapel, 49 East 200 North in Monroe, where friends may call for viewing Saturday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Monroe American Legion Post #37 will be in the Monroe City Cemetery under the direction of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
