Budd Jorgensen

April 5, 1920 — August 7, 2008

Gunnison, Utah - Our kind and beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother and uncle, Alvin Budd Jorgensen, age 88, of Gunnison, died August 7, 2008 in Mayfield, Utah. He was born April 5, 1920 in Ephraim, Utah, a son of Joseph Lyman Leonard and Emma Lydia Thompson Jorgensen. He graduated from Snow Academy in Ephraim, Class of 1938 and Snow College in 1940 with a degree in Business. He married Ila Manwill, May 31, 1940 in Manti. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple March 29, 1944. He was a Veteran of World War II, serving with the 68th Replacement Battalion and the 109th Military Government Headquarters in Japan from February 1945 to August of 1946. Budd was active in the LDS Church, serving as Ward Clerk in the Gunnison 1st Ward for many years. He was a charter member of the Centerfield American Legion Post #105. Budd served many needful neighbors by keeping their yards weeded. He was an avid reader and a meticulous weed eliminator!!! Budd is survived by his wife, Ila Jorgensen of Gunnison; his children Ruth and Charles Thompson of Denver, Colorado; Lee and Margaret Jorgensen of Declo, Idaho; Jane and Greg Cloward of Provo and Sue and Ron Dalley of Gunnison; 23 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Morris and Theone Jorgensen of Kearns; Ray and Betty Jorgensen of Taylorsville; LaMar and Merilyn Jorgensen of Manti; Beverly Albrecht of Las Vegas, Nevada; Dorothy Jorgensen of Salt Lake City; Gary and June Jorgensen of Ephraim; sisters-in-law: Barbara Jorgensen of Salt Lake City; Barbara Jorgensen of Middleton, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his parents: Lyman and Emma Jorgensen; two sisters and two brothers: Ruth Jorgensen, Leda Jorgensen, Roger Jorgensen and Kent Jorgensen; a granddaughter, Holly Cloward; and five great-grandchildren: Addison Jorgensen, Ethan Tinney, Jason, Ellie and Grace Cloward. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 14, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. in the Gunnison LDS Stake Center, located at 80 West Center Street in Gunnison, where friends may call for viewing Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or Thursday morning from 11:30 to 12:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Centerfield American Legion Post #105 and the Richfield Unit of the Utah National Guard will be in the Manti City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
