Buddy Bastian

Salina, Utah - Richard A. (Buddy) Bastian, age 78, died December 21, 2007 at his home in Salina of liver cancer. He was born January 21, 1929 in Salina, Utah, a son of LeLand and Muriel Sorenson Bastian. He married Mary Lou Prows, June 10, 1950 in Salina, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple December 3, 1963. Buddy attended North Sevier High School and was a member of the LDS Church. His family always came first, and Mary was the love of his life. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and the Utah Jazz. Go JAZZ!!! Buddy is survived by his loving wife, Mary, of Salina; his children: Richard L. and Rachael Bastian of Salina; Randy C. and Mary Bastian of Johnson City, Tennessee; Arthur Carl and Kathy Bastian of South Weber; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Karma Lee (Sis) Beck of Centerfield and Joan Curtis of Aurora and his special grandma, Myrt Shepherd Martin of Salina. He was preceded in death by his father, LeLand Bastian; step-father, Allan Martin; mother: Muriel Sorenson and a brother, Dr. Brent Martin. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 27, 2007 at 12 Noon in the Salina 3rd LDS Ward Chapel, 87 South 100 East in Salina, where friends may call for viewing Thursday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Salina Pioneer Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
