Cal Adams

Panguitch, Utah - Nathan Calvin “Cal” Adams, passed away in his sleep in the early morning hours of January 12, 2010 in Panguitch, Utah, at the age of 80. He was born August 15, 1929 in Panguitch, a son of Nathan William and Irene Tebbs Adams. He graduated from Panguitch High School, Class of 1947. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Cal married Louise Henderson December 24, 1953 in Panguitch. They had 1 son and were later divorced. He married Luella Helquist, December 25, 1974. They were sealed in the Manti LDS Temple August 29, 1984. Cal was an active member of the LDS Church, serving as a faithful Home Teacher, as the Elder’s Quorum Secretary and as a High Priest in the Panguitch 2nd Ward. He loved being outdoors, hunting, fishing and just riding in the hills. He worked in the AA as a State Representative for many years. Cal worked as a night watchman for Kaibab Lumber in Panguitch, and also worked for Allen’s Ford Sales. He had a great love for his family and was a good friend to everyone. Cal was loved and will be missed by all who knew him. Cal is survived by his loving wife, Lue, of Panguitch; his son, Ronald Reed and his wife, Michal Ann Adams of Cedar City; 4 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brother and sister: Bert J. and Clara Adams of Pahrump, NV; Roene Dickinson of Idaho Falls, ID; sisters and brothers-in-law: Barbara Adams of Circleville; Leslie Helquist of Goshen; Leora Johnson of Idaho; and Lee Helquist of Richfield; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; his step-father: Sherman Hatch; brother, Dewey Adams and a brother-in-law: Phil Dickinson. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. in the Panguitch 2nd LDS Ward Chapel, 190 North 400 East, in Panguitch, where friends may call for viewing Saturday morning from 11:00 to 12:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Panguitch American Legion Post #25 and the Utah Honor Guard, will be in the Panguitch Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
