Antimony, Utah- Marcus Calvin Gleave, age 86, passed away peacefully in his home December 26, 2022 surrounded by his family in Antimony.
Calvin was born May 13, 1936 in Richfield, Utah to Marcus Earl and Margariete Nielsen Gleave. Calvin lived in Payson, Utah and attended school in Payson. Calvin married the love of his life, Barbara Jean Griffith May 18, 1956 in Payson, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS temple on May 13, 1964.
Calvin worked as a government surveyor for the first part of their marriage, along with farming. He then went to work at Geneva Steel as a scale operator. After his retirement, he and Barbara moved to Antimony where they cut and sold firewood. Calvin served on town council for many years and was active in the LDS church, serving as Bishop in the Antimony ward from 2006-2010.
Calvin loved fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family. He enjoyed farming and camping. Calvin had a green thumb and grew beautiful gardens every year. He was happy to share the produce with everyone. His biggest loves included his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He made everyone feel like they were his favorite! He will be missed by many.
Calvin is survived by his wife, Barbara; his children, Roger (Ellen) Gleave; Brad (Stephanie) Gleave; Tammy (Bob) Bryant; and Scott Gleave; all of Antimony, as well as Robbie (JoAnn) Gleave of Santaquin; 9 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren, siblings: Charleen (Larry) Strange of Arizona City, AZ; Chaunna (Mike) Zimonja of Mesa, AZ; Karen (Van) Hansen of Sandy; and Julie (Jim) Walker of Spring Glen.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, brother: Robert Lavere Gleave; and a great-grandchild: Morgan Gleave
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 30, 2022 at 12 Noon in the Antimony LDS Chapel, where friends may call for a viewing 10:00 to 11:30 A.M. prior to services or Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Springer Turner Funeral Home Chapel in Richfield, Utah
Burial will take place in the Widtsoe Cemetery under the care of Springer Turner Funeral Homes of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
