Calvin S. Ogden

Richfield, Utah - Calvin Shelton Ogden, beloved father, husband, brother, grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2017, at the age of 90 in Provo, Utah, surrounded by his loving family. Calvin was born April 7, 1927, in Richfield, Utah, the youngest of nine children born to John Lester Ogden and Georgia Eliza Hatch Ogden Dall: Delna, Bordell (twin), Morell (twin), Harold, J. Glen, Max G, Darlene and Barbara (of whom Barbara survives). Calvin attended school in Richfield. He served his country in World War II. He joined the US Army Air Corp during his senior year of high school as he had enough credits to graduate early. He returned to receive his diploma with his class. Calvin came home to Richfield to marry his high school sweetheart, Roberta (Bobbie) Taylor, in the Manti temple on November 14, 1947. Together they had six children: Brent C Ogden (Kathy), Janae Bell (Jefferson), Jonny Lester Ogden (deceased), Bryce Allen Ogden (Audrey), Lesli Hughes (Greggory), and Dixie Harris (Donald). Calvin lived his entire life in Richfield. He was a department head and supervisor at the U.S. Gypsum plant in Sigurd, Utah. He was very proud of his position there! Calvin was an avid sportsman. He loved to hunt and always looked forward to the opening of each hunting and fishing season. He loved to go exploring, 4-wheeling and ATVing all over southern Utah. He rode his ATV until he was 88 years old. After divorcing Bobbie, he married LaRae Anderson, with whom he lived happily until her death in 2003. Their union was solemnized in the Manti temple. He married Helen Curtis in 2005. They later divorced but remained close friends. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. in the Springer Turner Funeral Home Chapel in Richfield, where friends may call for viewing Friday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the VFW Sevier Post #5050 and the Utah Honor Guard will be in the Richfield Cemetery under the care of Springer Turner Funeral Home.
