Richfield, Utah - Cara Deann Schmitt, age 36, of Richfield, slipped peacefully from her earthly life with her loving family surrounding her on Thursday, August 21, 2014 in Provo, Utah from complications of epilepsy. Cara was born Jan. 27, 1978 in Richfield to Lesli Ogden Ross and Richard Ross. She married Brad Schmitt, July 26, 1997 in Erda, Utah. They were later divorced but remained close friends. Cara will be remembered most for the pure joy she felt when giving to others. She loved her family with all her heart and was happiest when they were all together. She dealt with her illness with strength & dignity while always remaining bright & bubbly. She crocheted kitchen scrubbies, dishrags and hair scrunchies, giving them to people she met that touched her life. She adored little children and loved being with them in the church nursery or seeing a baby wherever she encountered one. She loved her animals Kitty and Sam. She was a constant companion to her Grandma, as her Grandma was to her for the past 4 years. Cara was a member of the LDS church. She was a volunteer at the Richfield Care Center and had a genuine love for the elderly. Cara is survived by her parents Lesli and Greg Hughes of West Jordan, siblings: Corby Ross, West Valley City; Tressidy Ross (Billy),Midvale; Jordan Ross, West Jordan; Grandmother: Bobbie Hooper and Grandfather: Calvin Ogden, both of Richfield; step-siblings Michael Hughes, San Antonio,TX; Sara Hughes, Highland Park, CO; step-grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Grover Hughes, Booneville, AR.; her precious niece Canyon Ross and several aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her step-grandfathers: Shen Christensen and Keith Hooper; step-grandmother LaRae Ogden; and cousin Cody Ogden. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at 12 Noon in the Richfield 6th LDS Ward Chapel, 10 South 200 East in Richfield. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Monday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or at the church Tuesday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
