Carol A. Andersen

Gunnison, Utah - Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Carol Anderson Andersen, passed away on September 28, 2012, just a month after celebrating her ninetieth birthday. Carol was born August 28, 1922 in Salina, Utah, a daughter of Carl Niels and Armanella Jessen Anderson. She graduated from North Sevier High School and Provo School of Beauty Culture. She married Robert Keith Andersen on July 14, 1945 in Reno, Nevada. They lived in grass Valley, California until Keith completed military service. Then they returned to gunnison, Utah, where they raised their three children. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on July 14, 1961. Keith died July 5, 1996. Carol was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many capacities including ward and stake Primary President, Stake Young Women’s President and Ward Relief Society President. She was actively involved in and supported community and school events in the Gunnison Valley. She loved Fish Lake, traveling with her husband, the Utah Jazz, her home, quilting, mowing her lawn and raising dahlias. The accomplishment of which she was most proud, was her family. She is survived by her three children: Sherry and Richard Bartholomew of Ephraim; Robert and Jeanette Andersen, Paul and Mary Lou Andersen, all of Gunnison; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; a brother, Bryce and Sally Anderson of Aurora. She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith Andersen; a sister, Mozella Peterson and her brothers: Valden Anderson and Sherman Anderson. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 5, 2012 at 12 Noon in the Gunnison LDS Stake Center, where friends may call for viewing Thursday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or Friday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Gunnison City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
